Meet the Doctors

Dr. Kevin Smith

Dr. Kevin Smith is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with 15 years of experience. He received a master’s degree in science from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL and a medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, IL. He took his internship in Family Practice at Southern Illinois University Affiliated Hospitals and a residency in orthopedic surgery at McLaren Regional Medical Center, an affiliate of Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in Flint, MI. Dr. Smith then completed a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine, followed by a tenure of more than a decade on the school’s faculty. He has also practiced at Group Health Cooperative and Virginia Mason Medical Center. Dr. Smith's professional interests include treatment of patients with shoulder and elbow conditions such as arthritis, rotator cuff disease, instability, stiffness and fractures.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Smith enjoys music, sports and fitness, red wine and microbrews and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Justin Klimisch

Dr. Justin Klimisch is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon. He received a bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Texas Medical Branch, school of allied health, and a medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch, school of medicine. He did his Internship and Residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Klimisch then attended a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. His professional interests include treatment of patients with lower extremity conditions such as pain, stiffness, arthritis, and fractures. He has a particular interest in computer navigated joint replacement, minimally invasive surgery, hip resurfacing, and partial knee replacements.

Outside of orthopedic surgery, Dr. Klimisch enjoys skiing, fishing, sports and fitness, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Thomas Tanous

Dr. Thomas Tanous is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon. He received a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of North Texas, and his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He did his Internship and Residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Tx. Dr. Tanous then attended the fellowship in Lower Extremity Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, CA. It was here that he was trained in state of the art joint replacement, including minimally invasive hip and knee replacement, computer navigation, hip arthroscopy, partial knee replacement, total ankle replacment, and training in osteochondral allograft of the knee and ankle. His professional interests include treatment of all injuries involving the lower extremity. This includes both non-operative as well as operative management. He has a particular interest in hip and knee arthroscopy, computer navigated joint replacement, minimally invasive surgery, hip resurfacing, and partial knee replacements.

Outside of orthopedic surgery, Dr. Tanous enjoys traveling, the outdoors, live music, and spending time with family and friends.
